Brazilian footwear exports up in 2021

According to the most recent data from Abicalçados, the Brazilian shoe manufacturers’ association, the country has exported 86.2 million pairs of footwear from January to September 2021.

The exports generated US$618.45 million, increasing 33.7% in volume and 26.3% in revenue when compared with the same period in 2020 (at the height of the pandemic). Compared with pre-pandemic figures in 2019, volume increased by 1% while revenue has dropped by 15.7%.

Haroldo Ferreira, Executive President of Abicalçados, said: “The expectation is to end the year with results 25% better than last year, even surpassing the pre-pandemic numbers in 2019.”
