The UK’s largest automotive leather supplier was named Scottish Exporter of the Year during a ceremony held on March 22 in Glasgow, Scotland.
The ceremony attended by over 500 guests was addressed by Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. Already a recipient of four Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in the International Trade category, Bridge of Weir has now also been named Scottish Exporter of the Year. In addition, the tannery also won the Large Exporter of the Year category.
“These Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the international success of some of our most ambitious businesses. They have all successfully identified and seized new export opportunities around the world.”, said Nicola Sturgeon in her address. “They represent a great example of what we want to see: globally successful Scottish companies producing cutting edge, high quality goods and services. In doing so, they are expanding their businesses, boosting Scotland’s economy and enhancing our international reputation.”, she added.
Bridge of Weir is the largest automotive leather supplier in the UK. Its leathers have been a major export from Scotland for 70 years to over 30 countries worldwide.
