Luxury manufacturing help during COVID-19 pandemic

Several luxury fashion brands have announced they will be using their machinery and manufacturing skills to produce protection masks.

French luxury conglomerate LVMH was among the first to announce it would be donating thousands of face masks, as well as mobilising some of its factories from the cosmetics and perfume division to produce hydrogel for hospitals. Now Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent, to name a few, said they would also produce several thousands of protection masks in their workshops to help combat the COVID-19 spread. Similarly, high street brands Zara and H&M said they would do the same, along with other protective hospital equipment, with several surgical masks already having been donated by the brands.
